Who Do You Trust?

Who do you trust?

In times past, we, as people, have chosen to associate with other people we agree with because it’s more enjoyable to hang out when you’re not always getting in arguments. When you spend a lot of time with someone, you get to know them and (hopefully) learn to trust them. So, typically, we trust those we agree with.

Unfortunately, social media has short-circuited this process. We see people online that we agree with, forget that we haven’t built a relationship, and naturally want to trust them. And we automatically want to distrust those we disagree with.

Remember, agreement ≠ relationship. Ask yourself if the source deserves your trust. If it’s a person, is the relationship there. If it’s a website, does it have an established record?

As humans, we need to recognize that the world has changed and make an effort to overcome our shortcomings.
